We have seen some BIG changes on our house lately!! As in...there are walls and rafters!! I'm surprised you couldn't hear me squealing in delight when I first saw the walls, and then more squeals when we saw the rafters!! Jeremy's excited too, but he's not much of a girlish squealer!! :D Here are some pictures of the amazing new changes!! (I promise not to judge if you squeal too!)

We planted a house seed!! Let's watch it grow!!

This is the post that I will continually update with a house-building picture from each stage. I take these pictures from the same angle and the same spot, with the hope that I can make an awesome video that looks like our house is just sprouting from the ground. (It seems cool in my mind...we'll see how it turns out.)

Before any changes at all.

Look closely for the stakes!

After pushout!

There's a footer in there somewhere!

Reflections...

As I sit here and wait for the eye doctor to finally get ready to see me, I'm struck by the realization that one day I'll no longer have to wear contacts or glasses. I won't have to squint to see the tiny print on this "Highlights" I'm reading (don't lie, you love highlights too!)

I had the pleasure (and sometimes extreme annoyance) of chaperoning 20 youth to church camp at Crossings this past week. This was an eye-opening experience for all of us! I learned that I no longer want to have girls out of fear that they'll be BOY CRAZY and drama filled! :) But if you asked me right now if I'd chaperone next year, I'd have to say yes. Why is that, you ask?? Why would you willingly put yourself in a situation that could make you gray before you turn 30?? Because I had the priviledge of walking one of these young girls through what the gospel really means! She knew God was dealing with her on the first night of camp, but she couldn't put into words why she felt the way she did or what Jesus had done for her. Throughout the week, she heard story after story of God's grace, mercy, and love for her. On the last night of camp, after many tears and long conversations, she prayed a sweet, thankful prayer to her new Savior, Jesus Christ. Let me tell you guys...there's no better feeling than knowing God truly blessed YOU by allowing you to guide a soul to him, even in the smallest way.

So what does that have to do with the eye doctor?? Pretty much nothing, but it makes my heart sing to know that when we all get to heaven, my perfect eyes won't have to squint to see my sisters and brothers in Christ!

A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams.

Broady and I started house hunting a while back, but we couldn't find anything that suited us, whether it be location, size, price, whatever. Nothing felt like home...imagine me being picky ;) We then turned our eyes towards land-hunting. We found 2.2ish acres just out Scottsville Road less than 10 miles from Bowling Green.

(This is what the land looked like the day we finally found it! No leaves on the trees!)

Hmm...we loved it! Of course, it had to meet the approval of all our important people (moms, dads, and grandparents!) With everyone's approval and tons of guidance from our family, we made an offer and closed on our 2.2 acres of dirt! It was OURS! (Well, technically the deed's in my name, but still it's OURS!)

We then moved on to our next big adventure...picking a house builder! After narrowing down the options, gathering bids based on house plans that took forever and a day to decide upon, and tennis-match negotiation, we made a choice!!

Rick Noall, come on down!! You're the next contestant on the "Make Haven Porter Happy! show" (That's kind of a big deal...Jeremy Broady is the all-time reigning champ!) Here's how the land looked soon after we closed!
Yay trees with leaves!!

We have since broke ground on our house!! I promised to update at each stage...I even have the coolest idea for a picture each day that makes it look like our house is just sprouting out of the ground!! Stay tuned!!

Long Time...No Blog

So, I really did an awesome job keeping up with this blogging thing. Two blogs, really?! I cross my heart that I'll try to do better this time. Big things have happened in my life since the last time I blogged. I got engaged January 14th...aww!
We're gonna get married September 10th, 2011!! That's right, people. 9.10.11 adorable stuff.

I will attempt with this blog to keep a record of our life, our crazy house-building adventure, and our wedding planning! Wish me luck!
